  • Aged Care Assessment Teams (ACATs) - can help you decide which services you need. They can help you to get residential care or a Community Aged Care Package (CACP), refer you to community care services, or help you arrange respite care in a residential setting.

  • BreastScreen Australia - is the national mammographic screening program. It provides FREE screening mammograms for women aged 50-69, with the aim of reducing deaths from breast cancer in this target group.

  • Centrelink, Residential Aged Care Fees - Some residential aged care homes, (for example, hostels and nursing homes) are funded by the Australian Government. To live in one of these homes pernmanently, you will have to be assessed by an Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT) to see what level of care you need. Centres provide free and confidential information on community aged care, disability and other support services available locally, intrastate or anywhere within Australia.

  • Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) - The Commonwealth Government subsidises the cost of many prescription medicines and all Australian residents are eligible for the subsidy.

  • Residential Aged Care - Residential Aged Care is available for older people who cannot live at home. They must be assessed by an ACAT as needing this care. There are two levels of residential care: low level (hostel) services, and high level (nursing home) services.
