Cycles of Life:
Herbs for the Five Stages of a Women's Life By Ellen Kamhi, Foreword
by Serafina Corsello
Pub. Date: May 2001
From the Publisher
Mother Nature has
provided us with herbs and other natural remedies to treat the
physical, emotional, and spiritual challenges we encounter
throughout life. These are often safer, gentler, and just as
effective as pharmaceutical drugs. Ellen Kamhi, The Natural Nurse,
who has been involved in the field of natural medicine for over 35
years, has experienced the power of this medicine firsthand.
Combining modern academic training with years of study among
indigenous healers, midwives, and shamans, she has provided direct
care through the use of natural remedies for herself, family,
friends, and hundreds of patients. Written especially for women,
this book shows how the female body and psyche adapt to the cycles
of womanhood: menarche (first ovulation), menstruation, fertility
(desired and not), sexuality, and menopause. Within each of these
stages imbalances can surface that can be treated using natural
remedies. You'll find detailed instructions on how to prepare a
myriad of natural formulas along with superb advice on how to use
herbs, nutrition, relaxation, and ritual to balance the body and
mind.
