Florence
Nightingale Foundation - The
Florence Nightingale Foundation is a registered charity which raises
funds to provide scholarships for nurses, midwives and health visitors
to study at home and abroad. Details of various scholarships and how to
apply are provided. Abstracts and details of reports written by those
who have received scholarships in the past are available and the full
documents can be ordered.

Eleanor Peel Trust: St. Martin's College -
total available £2,000. Available for projects or activities which
will be of benefit to the cultural and social awareness of the student
concerned and outside normal academic or professional courses. Past
activities have included rural educational development in South Africa,
nursing amongst Palestinian refugees in Gaza and working in orphanages in
Romania and South America.

NHS Bursaries: National Health Service
-
NHS-funded support is available to individuals accepted for an NHS-funded place on a full or part-time course leading to professional registration as a nurse or midwife, or in a range of other health professions. Individuals undertake a course of study at either DipHE or degree level and are provided with support under the terms of the NHS Bursary Scheme. All NHS-funded students have their liability for a tuition fee contribution met, in full and without means testing. English domiciled pre-registration medical and dental students who joined their courses from 1 September 1998 onwards will qualify for NHS Bursaries in their fifth and subsequent years of study. NHS Bursaries are also available to English- domiciled students undertaking the new 4-year graduate entry medical courses

Widening Participation Bursaries: Northumbria University -
A limited number of £1,000 Northumbria University Widening Participation Bursaries are available to students who meet the following criteria. You have 'ordinary residence in the UK' You are starting, for the first time, a full-time undergraduate course (excluding Diploma in Nursing) You have an Unconditional or Conditional FIRM offer for Northumbria University You are aged up to 21 years on 1st September You are currently attending school or college not in an Excellence in the City (EiC) or Educational Action Zone (EAZ) area. This Bursary is available to students who are not eligible for the Government Opportunity Bursary. Your family is in receipt of either Income Support, Housing Benefit, Council Tax Benefit, or Income Based Job Seekers Allowance
- The RCN administers awards and
scholarships. We do this for nurses, midwives and health visitors
for study, research, travel, conferences etc. Brief details are given
below. Where a closing date has
passed we regret we are unable to deal with individual enquiries about
these funds until an invitation to apply appears again in the RCN
Bulletin/Nursing Standard. Any such correspondence will of course be
held until then.

promote the advancement of the art and science of nursing. Closing

Annual scholarships for nurses and midwives in clinical practice in the
NHS for course fees for post registration study or research. Closing

Completed applications must be received back by November 1. Outcome
notified by end February.
Annual scholarships for enrolled nurses taking conversion courses. Closing

Award for research or development project related to the health service
needs of black and minority ethnic communities. One award of £25,000. Closing

Awards up to £2,500 to facilitate education and/or research in the
field of A&E, including travel associated with these activities. Closing

Funding for a project, study visit or course to facilitate
development in a leadership/management role in healthcare. Closing
