Organizations

  • American College of Nurse Midwives. - With roots dating to 1929, the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM) is the oldest women's health care organization in the U.S.

  • Association of Radical Midwives - We are midwives, student midwives and others in the UK committed to improving the maternity care provided by the NHS. (UK)

  • Australian College of Midwives - This is the web home for the peak national body for the promotion of midwifery in Australia

  • Canadian Association of Midwives - CAM is the national organization representing midwives and the profession of midwifery in Canada. Our role is to unite, promote, support and strengthen the profession of midwifery.

  • Centre for family Health and Midwifery - The Centre for Family Health and Midwifery at University of Technology, Sydney (UTS) was established in July 2000. It is a result of collaboration with the Faculty of Nursing Midwifery and Health (NMH) at UTS and the health industry.

  • Citizens for Midwifery - Citizens for Midwifery – the only national consumer-based group promoting the Midwives Model of Care! CfM works to provide information and resources that promote the local midwife, as well as midwives and midwifery care across the country!

  • Conseil National de l'Ordre des Sages-femmes - This is the web home for the peak national body for the promotion of midwifery in France. The website is in French.

  • European Honour Society of Nursing & Midwifery - The European Honour Society of Nursing and Midwifery is being established across Europe for the purpose of advancing knowledge, through scholarly activity, in nursing and midwifery practice, education and research.

  • Federation Suisse des Sages-Femmes - This is the web home for the Swiss peak national body for the promotion of midwifery. It is offered in three languages, German, French, and Italian.

  • Independent Midwives Association (IMA) - The Independent Midwives Association (IMA) is a group of UK midwives who have chosen to practice outside the NHS. The Association exists for the dissemination of information about, and support for, independent midwives, and to lobby for the traditional role of the midwife.

  • International Centre for Traditional Child Bearing - The International Center for Traditional Childbearing, Inc. (ICTC) is a non-profit African centered organization located in Portland, Oregon.

  • International Confederation of Midwives - The International Confederation of Midwives is an international non-governmental organisation that unites 85 national midwives’ associations from over 75 countries. It both represents and brings together the midwives of the world.

  • Midwives Alliance of North America - The mission of MANA is to provide a nurturing forum for support and cooperation among midwives. Through our collective strength, we can ensure midwifery care for all mothers and their babies throughout North America.

  • National Board for Nursing, Midwifery and Health Visiting for Scotland

  • New Zealand College of Midwives - The New Zealand College of Midwives (NZCOM) is the professional organisation and recognised 'voice' for midwives in New Zealand. NZCOM represents over 2000 members and works in partnership with maternity consumer groups and individual women to ensure high quality maternity and midwifery services in New Zealand.

  • Northern Ireland Practice and Education Council for Nursing and Midwifery (NIPEC)  - The Northern Ireland Practice and Education Council for Nursing and Midwifery (NIPEC) replaced the Northern Ireland National Board for Nursing, Midwifery and Health Visiting (NBNI).

  • Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), UK - The Nursing and Midwifery Council is an organisation set up by Parliament to protect the public by ensuring that nurses, midwives and health visitors provide high standards of care to their patients and clients.

  • Oregon Midwifery -  is an educational resource site for midwives, students, doulas, and parents in Oregon, as well as other parts of the US.

  • Osterreichisches HebammenGremium - This is the web home for the peak national body for the promotion of Austrian midwifery. It is in German.

  • Royal College of Midwives (RCM) - The Royal College of Midwives is the UK's main professional organisation and trade union for midwives. The RCM homepage leads to information about the organisation and its services.

  • Spiritual Midwifery - inspiring,  nurturing and celebrating the birth of spiritual awareness

  • The Global Maternal/childhealth Association and Waterbirth International - Waterbirth International was founded by Barbara Harper, RN, childbirth advocate, midwife, author of "Gentle Birth Choices," (1994 Inner Traditions) video producer, waterbirth expert and mother of three, two of whom were born at home in water.
